UBRFC is one of the largest sports clubs at the University, accommodating six BUCS teams of varying ability, including a Women’s Union team, a Rugby League team and a Mixed Touch team. The newly established RUSH-D intramural set up provides three extra men’s teams to act as a development squad for our BUCS teams while providing even more students with the opportunity to represent the University.

With top class coaches, facilities and coach and refereeing educational programmes, UBRFC caters for all players, both male and female, from the serious international to those that have never picked up a rugby ball before. We offer opportunities to become involved in all aspects of the game whether as a player, a coach, referee or even just as a social member.

Reasons to Join Us

We are one of the largest clubs on campus, with 8 teams catering for all abilities. It doesnt matter if you have never touched a rugby ball in your life – there is a team for you! Our BUCS teams compete the league each year and the cup with the final being held at Twickenham. Another highlight of the year is the Bath v Bristol Derby which kicks off the uni rugby calender down at the Rec in the city centre. Its a huge event which settles the friendly  rivalry of the neighbouring cities rugby teams.

Matches are played every Wednesday and there are SOCIALS EVERY WEEK, so you can celebrate or commiserate in style with your teamates. So there is always an event going on! Whether you’re an active member or not, you are very welcome at any time to join in, both on the pitch and off it!
