When the GP Surgery is closed and you can’t wait for medical help until the next day, contact NHS 111 for an Out of Hours GP from B&NES Doctors Urgent Care (BDUC)
FOR EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO CALL AN AMBULANCE
For non-urgent and general enquiries the University Medical Centre’s administrative and secretarial team can be contacted by email sent to: BSCCG.firstname.lastname@example.org
Please call or telephone the surgery on 01225 789100 between 8.00am and 6.00pm and you will be offered the first available appointment, usually within three working days.
If you feel your problem is urgent and cannot wait for a regular appointment you will be offered an urgent appointment the same day, though you may have to wait.
The receptionist may take your details initially and arrange for a GP to call you to discuss your condition and assess whether a visit to the surgery is necessary on that day. Please telephone or call in at the surgery as early as possible that day.
FAILURE TO ATTEND
It is frustrating both for the staff at the medical centre and other patients if you book an appointment and do not attend. If you miss an appointment you may be asked to explain why, and if this happens repeatedly you may be removed from the patient list and will have to find another practice.
Please: do not become another ‘Did Not Attend’ (DNA) statistic.
HOW DO I OBTAIN A HOME VISIT?
Patients are requested to telephone before 9.00am if a home visit is necessary that day. Emergency visits only will be arranged after that time.
Please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to home visits. Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that it takes to do a home visit.
