Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)
CELTA is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience who want to teach English as a foreign language. You gain the skills and practical teaching experience to start a career in English teaching either in the UK or abroad. We are currently taking applications for this course, interviews will be organised in due course. The fee for this course is £1,300
The CELTA programme is a four-week training course scheduled to commence in February. There are 140 contact hours divided into class input, supervised lesson planning, observed teaching practice and feedback and one-to-one tutorial support. The course runs 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
CELTA is a highly respected and recognised qualification across the world. It is accredited by OFQUAL (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) at Level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The CELTA focuses on five main areas:
learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
language analysis and awareness
language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
planning and resources for different contexts
developing teaching skills and professionalism.

Modules offered may vary.
– have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education
– be a minimum of 18 years old
– have a standard of English which would enable you to teach a range of levels (CEFR C2 or high grade at C1, Pass A or B)

You can gain considerable knowledge from work, volunteering and life. Under recognition of prior learning (RPL) you may be awarded credit for this which can be credited towards the course you want to study.
