Undergraduate scholarships and awards, September 2018 entry

Investing in your future

We are offering a generous funding package if you are a new full-time undergraduate student starting in September 2018. You may be eligible for more than one of these offers.

Awards are subject to you firmly accepting your offer of a place, enrolling and attending a Teesside University course.

Please note that these offers are for full-time UK or EU students (as defined by UCAS).
Scholarships for non-UK students

Teesside University Advance


Teesside University Advance is available for all full-time students (home, EU and international) enrolling on Year 0 or Year 1 of a full-time undergraduate course delivered at our Middlesbrough campus from September 2018.

At Teesside University we provide you with a stimulating and technology-enabled learning environment. To help you make the most of this, we provide you with:

    • an Apple iPad installed with Office 365 software, the University’s student portal, access to email, timetables, virtual learning environment and library resources
    • an iPad compatible keyboard
    • £100 credit that can be used to purchase course textbooks and learning resources
    • plus lecture-capture technology across campus you can access recordings of lectures at any time, from anywhere.

Tees Valley Community Foundation scholarship


£5,000 across your programme of study.

    • To be eligible for a Tees Valley Community Foundation scholarship you must select

Teesside University

    • as your firm accepted choice with UCAS and have been resident in the Tees Valley for over two years. Eligible students will be invited to apply in September 2018.

Peter Atherton opportunity award


Two awards worth £2,500.

These awards are available if you have successfully completed the first two years of an undergraduate programme delivered by Teesside University Business School, and have made a successful application to secure a 36-week placement year. Eligibility criteria apply.

Marjorie Hearnshaw scholarship


£3,000 award.

To be eligible for a Marjorie Hearnshaw scholarship you must be qualify to receive a maximum maintenance loan and have been resident in the Tees Valley for over two years. Eligible students are invited to apply after 31 January 2018.

Dr Ken Home scholarship


£5,000 across your programme of study.

To be eligible for a Dr Ken Home scholarship you must select Teesside University as your firm choice with UCAS and have been resident in the Tees Valley for over two years. Eligible students are invited to apply in September 2018.

Brittan scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be applying for a programme of study within our School of Computing, Media & the Arts or School of Science, Engineering & Design. You must select Teesside University as your firm accepted choice with UCAS.

We have two £7,500 scholarships for the 2018-19 academic year – each scholarship is paid across your full programme of study.

The University reserves the right to withdraw, amend the amount of any reduction or amend the qualifying criteria at any time. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Student Experience Fund


If you’re a current student and have a great idea for a project that could make a real difference, you can apply for funding for help to do something amazing. You can apply for up to £2,000 to support you as an individual or as part of a group project.
