Achievements and awards
Teaching Excellence Framework silver
Teesside University has been awarded a silver rating in the government’s new Teaching Excellence Framework. The new ratings – gold, silver and bronze – form part of the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) which is the responsibility of the Department for Education to give students information on teaching quality within universities. It reflects our strategic approach to teaching excellence, our commitment to our students and our emphasis on providing a high-quality learning and student experience. In addition to Teesside’s silver award, the local further education colleges that deliver Teesside University courses have received either silver or gold awards for their teaching of both full and part-time students
The Queen’s Anniversary Prize 2014-18
Teesside University is the proud recipient of The Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2014-18, awarded for our outstanding work in the field of enterprise and business engagement.
The Prizes recognise outstanding work at world-class level and are awarded biennially to only a handful of universities and colleges across the UK, allowing us to proudly use the Prizes logo for a period of four years to signpost our excellence to current and future partners, staff and students.
Customer First accreditation
Teesside is one of only a few universities in the UK to have been awarded the nationally recognised Customer First accreditation for its services to business.
This is the fourth time that Teesside has received the Customer First standard, which lasts for two years. Each time it is reaccredited, the University must demonstrate how it has continuously improved.
Investors in People Gold
Teesside is one of only five UK universities to be accredited with Investors in People GOLD status in recognition of the engagement of our staff in delivering the University’s vision, values and strategy, and our commitment to a culture of empowerment and professional development.
The University first achieved Investors in People (IiP) recognition in 1999, gaining Bronze status in 2008 and Gold status first in 2011 and again in 2014.
Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2016
Teesside University has been ranked as the top English university in the Stonewall list of the top 100 places for LGBT employees to work across Britain in 2016, judged on the way each treats members of staff from the LGBT community.
Overall Teesside University is at number 44 in the top 100 employers across Britain, making a massive jump from its position at 111 in last year’s list. It is one of just six North-East employers on the list.
