Teesside University Car Park
University car parking
Parking on Campus is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis. All students living outside the TS1 – TS3 post code areas may apply for the right to use the student Pay & Display car parks, but this does not guarantee a space. At busy times spaces run out early and it is recommended that students make themselves aware of the numerous nearby council- and privately-run car parks, some of which are cheaper than parking on Campus.
Parking in Middlesbrough
Cannon Park, park and ride scheme
Students may apply for free all day car parking at Cannon Park Way, which is approximately a ten minute walk from the Middlesbrough campus. A free bus service runs twice an hour on weekdays from 8.00am – 5.30pm (term-time only). First year students may apply online via Unity once they have enrolled and received their TUSC.
Returning students may also renew online via e-vision from mid-September onwards.
Student pay and display parking
There are limited spaces available in three long stay pay and display car parks with a fixed charge of £2 for all day parking, these include: Woodlands, Mercuria, and East Parkside Village. First year students may apply online via Unity once they have enrolled and received their TUSC.
Returning students may renew online via e-Vision from mid-September onwards.
A TUSC activated for access to the Woodlands, Mercuria and East Parkside Village car parks will also grant access to the Students’ Union short-term car park (£1.50 for up to four hours) as well as Darlington Campus. Those who opt for all day parking in Cannon Park Way are NOT granted access to Middlesbrough campus car parks. Students who opt for student pay and display parking are not eligible to obtain a permit for Cannon Park Way however their TUSC WILL grant access at Darlington campus.
Staff and student all day pay and display parking
The University provides one other staff and student all day, pay and display car-park which is Dartmouth with a fixed charge of £2. No prior registration is necessary and there are no access controls. The car park is checked regularly by parking attendants.

Other car parking
Some Council pay and display parking is available in the streets around the campus. Students are strongly advised not to park in streets where parking is reserved for street residents.
Car parking – residential students
All resident students who apply for a resident parking permit, dependent on their residence address, will be allocated parking at either Athena, Woodlands, East or West Parkside Village car parks. Resident students living on campus may apply for a permit to use these facilities which are subject to availability. The annual charge for a permit is currently £264 to be paid in full on application online, or at the Finance Counter, ground floor of Middlesbrough Tower. Once purchased the receipt and vehicle details should then be taken to Security Office, ground floor, Library for processing.
Students who rent private accommodation in a residential parking zone may apply to the Council for permits to park vehicles in the streets where they live. Advice on the application process is available from Middlesbrough Council (t: 01642 726003).
A limited number of car parking spaces are available for students at Darlington Campus on the basis of pay and display. First year students may apply online once they have enrolled and received their TUSC.
Returning students may also renew online via e-vision from mid-September onwards. TUSC activation will also allow access to all main University campus pay and display car parks.
The University has a limited number of covered bicycle stores for which there is no charge. There are several other areas around the campus where bicycles can also be secured at no charge during the day. Register online.
Please note that securing bicycles within the Campus Heart area is strictly forbidden.

Accessible parking (Blue Badge)
Students who hold a Blue Badge are eligible for free parking at the University. Visit Security Office, ground floor, Library for more information.
All applications should be accompanied with a valid TUSC and current vehicle details. Breach of any parking conditions will result in financial penalties/permanent removal of parking rights or possible student disciplinary action.
The penalties for breaching the conditions for parking are:
- first infringement: receipt of an email confirming that the infringement has been recorded and warning of TUSC deactivation
- second infringement: parking access rights cancelled immediately for a period of at least one week or until such time as the penalty is paid. A fixed charge of £10 is required (payable via the University online shop) to re-activate TUSC access to car parking
- third infringement: permanent withdrawal of all parking privileges and access rights.
Subsequent infringements (such as tail-gating) will be regarded as trespass and may result in formal action being invoked under Student Disciplinary Procedures. Students who habitually abuse regulations will forfeit all parking privileges and their TUSCS will be permanently deactivated. All representations regarding the issue of an infringement notice or permanent cancellation of parking privileges must be made within seven days of issue to the University security manager at Campus Services. Details of all offences are kept on record.
Vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk and in absence of negligence by the University, its servants or agents; liability will not be accepted for loss or damage to vehicles or property left in the car parks.
Students who live on campus, students who reside within a three mile radius of the University (postcodes TS1 – TS4), and students who are also members of University staff, are not eligible to use all day or short-term student car parks.
Please note that the new Campus Heart facility is a designated strictly no smoking area.
