Teesside University Business Management
BA (Hons) Business Management
UCAS code: N200 BA/BusMgt
This engaging and diverse business and management degree explores the critical areas of business and management practice and underpins this reality with the foundations of organisational theory.
You focus on developing your business thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, applying them to theoretical and simulated business cases, and directly to real-time business. Working closely with our business partners you build networks and explore opportunities to develop your own career in the business world.
Through work experience you gain the practical, professional and transferable skills required to increase your employability when you graduate – extremely important in the increasingly demanding graduate marketplace.
Year 1 is mainly tutor led and focuses on providing you with the necessary underpinning in terms of broad business knowledge and skills. It introduces key business and management concepts.
Year 2 takes a more student-led approach with an emphasis on exploring your own interests and deepening your insights as well as having more responsibility for your own learning. During this year you develop a broader international perspective to the study of business. As well as studying four core business modules, including a module where you gain practical work experience via self-identified project, you also choose two modules in year 2 based on contemporary issues in business management.
The final year explores more advanced topics within business and management and you develop your awareness of your own responsibility as a future leader of business. Finally, you have the opportunity to put your knowledge into action by undertaking a self-managed independent project via the Dissertation module.
