St Mary’s University Enrollment 2018/19 postgraduate study
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our postgraduate students at the beginning of term 2017/18.
These pages contain information to help make your registration process as smooth as possible, ready for the start of your course this September.
During the first two weeks of the semester, starting Sunday 10th September, there are many activities planned throughout the induction period. Most University departments will be running their own welcome events and the Students’ Union will be running their annual Welcome Fortnight which all St Mary’s students are invited to take part in. Full details on the lineup and schedule for SMSU’s Welcome Fortnight can be found here , along with information on clubs, societies, representation, welfare and all other aspects of student life at St Mary’s.
All our new students must formally register online as a student with St Mary’s. This allows you to access the IT resources and any student finance. It’s important that you complete all the online enrolment steps below. New students will also be asked to register in person.
To register online you will need to sign in to SimmSpace, St Mary’s student portal, by following the steps below.
Your Username and Password
Your username, or Regnum as we call it at St Mary’s, is your six digit registration number which you can find on your welcome letter. This will be your ID whilst studying with us.
Your initial password is your month and year of birth. For example, if you were born in February 1998, your initial password will be February1998 – please make sure you include the capital letter at the start of the month and that there is no space between the month and the year.
Having a problem with enrolling online?

There are two parts to the online registration process. Your online registration will not be complete until you have fully completed both part one and two.
Part 1: Confirming Your Details
To begin with you’ll need to complete some details and upload an ID card photo. To do this, follow these steps:
- Log onto SIMMSpace using your username and password.
- On the SIMMspace homepage click on the Online Registration link on the Notice Board.
- Click the Online Registration Part 1 icon
- Follow the onscreen instructions
- Upload a photo
If you upload a photo during Part 1 of Online Registration, you will make your registration in September easier as we’ll have your ID card ready when you arrive.
Your photo must:
- be a passport style photo of you (not a holiday or party photo)
- be in colour
- be a full head shot with your head facing to the front, with nothing covering your face.
- have a neutral background and be a clear image.

By completing the Online Registration Part 1 process you are agreeing to follow our IT policies and procedures throughout your time at St Mary’s. These can be found in the Policies section by going to SIMMSpace and clicking on “About Us” in the Library/IT tab and you should pay particular attention to the St Mary’s IT Policy and the Library Code of Conduct.
Part 2: Confirming Your Fee Payment Arrangements
Once you have completed Online Registration Part 1, you need to move on to Online Registration Part 2.
- From the SimmSpace Quick Links, select Online Registration and click on the icon for Online Registration Part 2 .
- Log in using your SimmSpace username and password.
- Follow the steps, making sure you read all parts of this section carefully, including all the statements and declarations before checking the relevant tick boxes.
- Select the modules you will be taking in 2017/18 and pay your fees.
Methods of payment
If you applied for a loan from Student Finance you are classified as a ‘SELF-PAYER’ as Student Finance will pay this funding directly to you and we have chosen the payment instalment dates to coincide with the dates Student Finance will pay you.
If you are being sponsored by a school, company or education department for all or part of your tuition fees, you will be asked to upload a headed confirmation letter from your sponsor via the Online Registration system. The Fees Office will then invoice your sponsor and they can pay your tuition fees directly to St Mary’s.
You can pay tuition fees in three equal instalments. You must set this up when registering, but nothing will be taken from your account until the first instalment is due. For the instalment option you must select “instalments” on Online Registration Part 2 page. Instalment dates for the 2017/18 academic year are:
- 25th September 2017
- 1st February 2018
- 26th April 2018

Welcome back to St Mary’s! If you will be taking new modules to continue your studies this academic year you will need to complete the two part Online Registration process as outlined above.
You will need to complete both parts before being fully registered.
In some cases, Programme Directors have written welcome letters that include timetable information. In other cases, Programme Directors will contact you directly.
Withdrawing or deferring your place
If you have changed your mind about joining our course, or if you wish to defer in order to start your studies in 2018, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
