DEGREE PROGRAMMES in Physics

UNDERGRADUATE

  • BSC PHYSICS

Pathways in Physics cover courses across a wide range of areas within the subject. They also include extensive practical and project work, and a very wide range of skills leading to very many careers options.

  • BSC IN PHYSICS WITH EXTENDED STUDIES IN EUROPE (PESE)

PESE students require a reasonable knowledge of French or Spanish on entry. During Stage 1 they take 2 modules of their foreign language, and they take a further module at Stage 2. They then spend a year abroad studying Physics in a foreign University before returning to complete their BSc in one further year.

  • MSCI IN PHYSICS WITH EXTENDED STUDIES IN EUROPE (PESE)

PESE students require a reasonable knowledge of French or Spanish on entry. During Stage 1 they take 2 modules of their foreign language, and they take a further module at Stage 2. They then spend a year abroad studying Physics in a foreign University before returning to complete their MSci in 2 years.

  • BSC IN PHYSICS WITH ASTROPHYSICS

Pathways in Physics with Astrophysics contain all the elements of the Physics Pathways. In addition students study one module of Astrophysics in each of Stages 2, 3 and, for MSci students, 4, and engage in substantial project work in Astrophysics.

  • MSCI IN PHYSICS WITH ASTROPHYSICS

Pathways in Physics with Astrophysics contain all the elements of the Physics Pathways. In addition students study one module of Astrophysics in each of Stages 2, 3 and, for MSci students, 4, and engage in substantial project work in Astrophysics.

  • BSC IN PHYSICS WITH MEDICAL APPLICATIONS

Pathways in Physics with Medical Applications contain all the elements of the Physics Pathways. In addition students study a specialised module in Medical Physics at Stage 3 and, for MSci students, at Stage 4, and engage in Medical Physics related project work.

  • MSCI IN PHYSICS WITH MEDICAL APPLICATIONS

Pathways in Physics with Medical Applications contain all the elements of the Physics Pathways. In addition students study a specialised module in Medical Physics at Stage 3 and, for MSci students, at Stage 4, and engage in Medical Physics related project work.

  • BSC IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS

Applied Mathematics and Physics is a very popular combination of subjects. In Stage 1, students must study the core modules from both Pathways, but at later Stages they have a practically free choice across the modules of both subjects.

  • MSCI IN APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS

Applied Mathematics and Physics is a very popular combination of subjects. In Stage 1, students must study the core modules from both Pathways, but at later Stages they have a practically free choice across the modules of both subjects.

  • BSC IN THEORETICAL PHYSICS

In early Stages this Pathway is very similar to Applied Mathematics and Physics, but in later Stages course choice is strongly biased towards modules of Theoretical Physics.
