// THE QUEENS UNIVERSITY BELFAST FRESHERS 2017 //

Congratulations on receiving your place at the The Queens University Belfast! It’s time to prepare for your arrival in your new city. This event will be your main source for freshers information directly relevant to you!

Join now so you can keep up to date with everything going on in Belfast during your freshers week!

Welcome and Induction Week (18 – 22 September) is a compulsory part of your timetable and all students are required to attend, so please ensure that you are available. During this week, some Schools will start their lecture programmes or run courses, which it is essential for students to undertake.

Your School (which is the name the University gives to your academic department) is responsible for your degree programme. Each School organises an induction programme with activities to help you get to know other students on your course, introduce you to staff from your School, and learn more about your course and the facilities of the University. As part of your School induction programme, you will meet your personal tutor (adviser) and other academic members of staff who will assist you with module selection. Details of the programme and appointments with academic staff will be sent to your Queen’s email address (details on how to access your Queen’s email account will be included in your Welcome Guide – as mentioned above).

Events during the University Welcome and Induction Week complement your School induction programme and provides you with the opportunity to gain more information on the range of services offered by both the University and the Students’ Union, including details about sports services, clubs and societies, student support and much more. Our events are developed and led by Student Guides – senior students – who can answer your questions, give you useful tips and share their own experiences of university life with you. A very important part of this central University programme is the Vice-Chancellor’s Welcome Address to new students which will be held on Monday 18 September in the Whitla Hall.

Full details (including links to our Facebook pages) will be available on the Welcome website at www.qub.ac.uk/welcome. Please make sure you visit the website and check your Queen’s email regularly to stay in touch with what’s on.
