Overview

Our brand new Robotics Engineering programme, the first of its kind in the UK, combines the best elements of the Schools of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and of Engineering and Materials Science. The two Schools have combined their state-of-the-art teaching facilities and internationally leading research with a programme designed to cover a wide range of general and specialised topics in the field of robotics, giving you an in-depth knowledge of robotics engineering, associated technical know-how, hands-on experience, and numerous transferable skills. The opportunity to engage with industries will give you confidence to seek jobs and work in various industrial environments.

The programme consists of a wide range of subjects covered in the programme will enable you to choose between a general degree in robotic engineering or to specialise in a particular area, such as industrial (manufacturing) robotics, medical robotics, cognitive robotics or soft robotics. It is expected that, through the course Skills for Robotics (in Year 1 and Year 2), your individual project in Year 3 and group project in Year 4, and other associated courses, by the end of the programme you will be able to design, model and build robots on your own, focusing on a particular application.

Study abroad

You can choose to apply for a four-year version of this degree with a full year abroad. We have links with universities around the world, including Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia (specific partnerships for each programme may vary).
