Norwich University of the Arts Illustration
There has been a powerful shift in the creative industries towards collaboration, networking and shared entrepreneurial practices.
This is reflected in the BA (Hons) Illustration course which has established a reputation for exploring and challenging the breadth of contemporary illustration practice as well as producing award-winning student work in a wide range of national and international competitions including the Penguin Book Awards and D&AD Yellow Pencils.
Students experience a vibrant and supportive studio culture with an emphasis on experimentation, investigation and invention. You will learn about wider contexts and purposes of illustration and its connection to art, design and the written word, with specific emphasis on narrative, documentary, design and self-authored illustration. With the support of a team of specialist technicians you will have access to printmaking workshops, the drawing studio, digital print and laser cutting and 3D modelling workshops.
You will explore briefs with your own unique style through activities with visiting practitioners such as Luke Best (Peepshow), Hugh Frost (Landfill Editions) and James Cartwright (It’s Nice That). You will conclude your final year with a degree show, which has been described by Creative Review editor Patrick Burgoyne as: “one of the strongest I’ve seen”, and an opportunity to show your work in London at D&AD New Blood.
