King’s College NHS Health Centre was established in 2001 providing health care for students and staff of King’s College London. Our team includes doctors, nurses, and other health workers.
We provide an accessible confidential service which works with you to meet your health needs as every patient deserves our personal best.
The Health Centre is sited in the Macadam Building of the Strand Campus. Our premises are fully accessible to wheelchair users and patients with restricted mobility. We are what is known in the UK as a General Practice.
Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues. The technology also means you can now do a lot of things from the comfort of your home such as order a repeat prescription or cancel an appointment.
Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patient needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.
Appointments are limited to 10 minutes with the Doctor or Nurse of your choice. If you feel more comfortable with a chaperone during an examination please advise the staff.

Nursing services includes
- ear syringing
- pregnancy testing
- removal of stitches
- travel advice
- treatment of minor illnesses
- sexual health checks
- smoking cessation
The Nurses are particularly interested in health promotion and prevention of illness and welcome consultations on general health and lifestyle.
Urgent or routine enquiries concerning family planning, minor ailments, results etc. can be obtained by telephoning between 09:00-11:00.
If you need to be seen on the same day or have a medical emergency we ask if you could call between 09.00 – 11.00 to be added to the on call GP’s triage list. The on call GP will then call you back and help you over the phone or if they feel you need to be seen they will invite you in for a same day appointment. If your problem occurs after 11, the on call GP is still available so you can still call and speak to them if it is medically urgent. The earlier you call the easier it is for the GP to help you. Same Day or Urgent Care
If you have a medical concern the centre offers a telephone advice line Monday – Friday. You will be able to make a same day appointment during the call, if necessary.

Policy for Lateness and Missed Appointments
As part of our aim to reduce patient waiting time we operate a lateness policy. Every patient is given an allocated time of 10 minutes with the nurse or doctors. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment the nurses or doctors will ask you to rebook as they will be seeing their next patient. To ensure that all clinics run to time please arrive at your allocated appointment time.
What Happens If I Am Late For My Appointment?
Unfortunately if you are over 10 minutes late you would need to re arrange your appointment as your appointment slot is 10 minutes long and therefore if past that time it would go into the next patient’s appointment time.
The Health Centre operates a ‘failed to attend’ policy for all patients that miss their appointments. If a patient fails to attend two appointments a warning letter will be sent to the patient. If a patient misses more than three appointments within one year they will be removed from our practice list for one academic year after which they can re-register if they wish.
