Keele University Nursery
At Keele University Day Nursery we firmly believe that every child is an individual and should be treated as such. The curriculum we offer encourages children to develop positive attitudes about themselves as well as those who are different from themselves.
“Our three children all have additional needs. They have been given extra help and care by the staff to enable them to achieve their full potential. We couldn’t ask for a better Nursery.”
Ruth and Gary, parents of Lydia, Nicole and Sam
Working with young children and their families, our starting point is the immediacy of the child’s world from which we gently lead them into the big, wide world beyond. We explore the rich cultural diversity of our community by sharing experiences, for example tasting food from around the world and learning about different festivals. We have a wide range of resources that reflect positive images of diversity in all aspects to support children in exploring their own and other people’s needs, views, cultures and beliefs.
We are committed to supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and work closely with parents and support specialists to ensure that children’s needs are identified and met. This promotes inclusion for all children in the setting.
Parents are extremely complimentary about the progress their children make. Staff regularly exchange information with them. This enables parents to contribute towards assessments and to continue children’s learning at home extremely effectively. Ofsted April 2016
“The quality of teaching is good across the nursery and some teaching is outstanding. The well-qualified staff motivate children to investigate and develop their own ideas through skilfully facilitating their play and providing a wide range of exciting resources”.Ofsted: April 2016
