The Head of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship department, Dr Markus Perkmann, said, “At Imperial, we offer a world class experience in entrepreneurship and innovation. Developing an entrepreneurial mindset and knowing how to pursue business opportunities entrepreneurially is as important for innovating within corporates as for high-growth start-ups.

“During their studies on the programme, we take students through a structured entrepreneurial process – from ideation and customer discovery to market positioning and execution – all skills that are highly valuable in any business, no matter its size.”

During the programme, the Executive MBA participants have the option to work on a real business project over a number of months, producing an actual business plan and product concept. Those taking this option receive support from Imperial’s Enterprise Lab and the Advanced Hackspace at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey, whether at initial idea stage or fund raising. The project also pairs the participants with design students from the Royal College of Art to provide them access to design thinking and skills.

The Executive MBA programme climbed up four places on the overall ranking, to 34th place in the world. The programme is among the top 10 programmes in the world for career progress, and also in the top 25 programmes in the world for salary growth, with an average 63% increase in salary after undertaking the programme.

Associate Dean for Executive Programmes Professor George Yip said, “I am delighted with the results. Over the last two years, we have developed the leadership elements of the programme, which will equip students with the tools they need to grow in senior corporate roles. We are enhancing the learning experience on the programme by increasing our international experience with three residencies at top business schools around the world; and by being one of the very first programmes in the world to use a more flexible blended approach that combines online preparation before face-to-face classes.”

As a school, Imperial has a commitment to gender parity and the current class representation of women – currently 41% – is the highest of any Executive MBA programme in the UK. Imperial offers 30% Club scholarships for talented female participants joining the programme, which include mentoring opportunities through the 30% Club.
