How to search for a vacancy

For guidance on how to search for a vacancy, please either view our online demonstration or follow the step by step instructions set out below.

Online Demonstration

To assist your search for a vacancy, you may wish to view our online search for a vacancy demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration, please click the ‘See It‘ button, located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to the College’s Job applicants page
  2. Click on the green “Job Search” button
  3. Search for a vacancy using any of the search criteria or enter the job vacancy reference number (if known) into the Keywords field then click on the “Search” button
  4. Click on a link in the vacancy reference column to view an advert
  5. To view or save the job description and person specification, click on the link in the “Job Description and Person Specification ” section of the advert
  6. To view or save the application form click on the link in the “How to Apply” section of the advert

How to register

If you are using our job search system for the first time in order to apply for a vacancy, you will need to register your details. For guidance on ‘How to Register Today’ please either view our online demonstration or follow the step by step instructions set out below. Further guidance is also contained on this page.

Online demonstration

To assist with registering, you may wish to view our online demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration please click the ‘See It’ button located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by step instructions

  1. Search for a vacancy
  2. Click on the “Apply Now” button at the top/bottom of the page – this opens up a “Login” page
  3. Click on the “New to iRecruitment? Register today” link and register using an email address and a password of your choice
  4. An email will be sent to the email address you used to register with a link that enables your online account to be activated. Click on the link, as instructed, to complete your registration
  5. N.B. If you do not receive an email within a few minutes, please check your spam/junk box
  6. You will then be returned to the Imperial College job site where you will be able to proceed with your application

How to apply after registering your details

In order to apply for a vacancy your personal details must be registered on our job search system. If you have not already done this, please follow the ‘How to ‘Register’ instructions above. For guidance on how to proceed with an application after registering, please view our online demonstration or follow the step by step instructions set out below.

Online Demonstration

To assist with applying for a vacancy, you may wish to view our online demonstration, which follows the steps set out below. Once you have opened this demonstration please click the ‘See It’ button located at the top of the screen to view it.

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Search for a vacancy
  2. Click on the “Apply Now” button at the top/bottom of the page – this opens up a “Login” page
  3. Click on the “Already Registered? Login here” link and enter the email address and password you used to register.

Or

  1. Log into your account from the College’s Employment website by clicking on the “Already Registered? Login here” link in the Existing Users box and enter the email address and password you used to register.
  2. Search for a vacancy

Then

  • Complete the application pages (1-4), ensuring that you answer all the questions within the system and upload your application form via the “Add Document” button on page 2
  • Once you have prepared and reviewed your application and are happy that all the requested information has been entered and documents completed, please select the “Submit” button.

What happens next

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your application immediately by email.
  • You will receive further email updates from us, for example, to advise you if you are shortlisted or invited for interview. You will also be able to view these status notifications from the Notifications section of your online account homepage.
  • All of your details (with the exception of your application documents) will be stored automatically and retrieved each time you apply for a vacancy. You will be able to edit your pre-registered information if you apply for further vacancies.
  • You can also access your online account to amend your personal details as required, for example, your address or telephone numbers or to change your password.
  • In addition, you will be able to view the adverts, job descriptions/person specifications and other details for any vacancies you have applied for from the Jobs Applied For section of your online account homepage
