Education and TrainingLevel 4 / Part Time

This qualification is aimed at candidates who are in an Associate Teacher role or would like an introduction to teaching in the sector and who are able to teach at least 30 hours on a group or one-to-one basis. It is suitable for those who work or want to work as teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector, Further Education, adult and community education, work-based learning or the voluntary sector. The qualification is designed to contribute towards the skills, knowledge and understanding for the ETF Professional Standards and provides a route for progression to the Certificate in Education or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education.

The qualification is designed to enable candidates to adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching and reflect on their own previous/current levels of experience, practice and skills and areas for development. To identify principles of learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation, develop communication and inter-personal skills and develop an awareness of their professional role and responsibilities.

This course has replaced the previous CTTLS course.

Entry Requirements

You will be required to have an appropriate qualification at level 3 or above or substantial experience in the subject area in which you intend to teach.

You must have also arranged at least 30 hours of Teaching Practice, spread over the duration of the course where you can teach your specialist subject to learners aged over 16yrs.

This can be on a voluntary basis and for the purpose of the course it is not necessary to have taught before.

You must have the potential and ability to complete a level 4 qualification involving academic research and substantial reading and writing.Please note that each application will be considered on an individual basis and a place on the course is not guaranteed.
