Applied Science, Level 3 (A Level Equivalent) / Full Time (2 Years)

If you have an interest in science and want to start on your path to a career in the field, then the Level 3 Applied Science Study Programme gives you a comprehensive taste of what you can expect in biology, chemistry and physics.

Your studies will include physiology, genetics, microbiology, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, electricity and medical physics; gaining a broad spectrum of knowledge to help you to identify your chosen speciality.

Get the UCAS points that you need along with the study skills you’ll be using at university, alongside valuable work experience to help you secure your future career.

This course provides the equivalent of three A-levels in Applied Science in preparation for your application for higher education. You may also find entry level work in a laboratory or as a technician.

Engineering Level 3 (A Level Equivalent) / Part Time

If you’re looking for a career in engineering, the Level 3 Engineering Study Programme gives you a solid foundation on which to start your journey. Covering practical and theoretical concepts that you’ll need to know, this course is a general engineering programme with focus on mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering to give you a good grounding. You’ll study machining techniques, design and draughting, and engineering science and maths. Alongside the programme you will gain valuable work experience in the engineering industry and boost your employability skills for the sector. The equivalent of three A-levels; on completion of the course you can have the UCAS points to move into higher education.

From here you can go on to study HNC/D Engineering, FdSc Engineering Technology, and a BEng Engineering Technology BSc(Hons), to become an engineering technician, maintenance technician, design draughtsperson, or project engineer.

Entry Requirements

You will be required to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or higher, including Maths, English and Science.

Please note that from June 2017, English and maths GCSEs will no longer be graded in the familiar A*-G format, but a new 9-1 grading system, with 9 being the highest grade. Under this new system the grade 4 will be equivalent to a grade C.  Please contact us for more details.
