Violin Masterclass
with Jacqueline Ross, Professor of Violin
Dates: 15 – 22 July 2017
This intensive seven day course is designed for advanced violinists who are preparing for competitions, auditions and concerts.
Lessons and practice
Participants will receive four individual lessons plus a masterclass with Jacqueline Ross, and there will be an opportunity to perform in a public London Showcase Concert in the Milton Court Concert Hall.
Participants will be allocated a personal practice room at the School, which will be available from 7am to 9pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 7.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. An accompanist will be available throughout the week for rehearsals, lessons and the concerts.
Participant requirements
The course is suitable for advanced conservatoire level students. Applicants should also ensure they have sufficient English language skills to be able to cope with the demands of this course.
About the tutor
Jacqueline Ross is Professor of Violin at the Guildhall School. Her research into style and performance has been supported by the Dutch Arts and Humanities Research Board, The British Council, and the London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange.
She has given international masterclasses regularly, including at Curtis Institute, Juilliard, Beijing Central Conservatory, Paris Conservatoire, and many others throughout Europe and the Far East. She has also adjudicated on many major violin competitions, including the Menuhin, Salzburg Mozart, Leopold Mozart, Isang Yun, and Louis Spohr International Violin Competitions, among others.
Our London location
Guildhall School is situated in the City of London, adjacent to the Barbican Arts Centre, and is very convenient to all London attractions. The closest tube stations are Moorgate and Barbican.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be at our student halls of residence Sundial Court, which is situated around the corner from the School. Participants can check into rooms between 2pm and 4pm on the first day of the course, and departure is 9.30am on the final day.

Residential option 1: Course Fee + Bed and Breakfast £764.40 (7 nights)
All lessons take place at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama: Silk Street, Barbican, London EC2Y 8DT.

Assessments
Should you wish to use your participation in the summer school as credit for a university or college course you are undertaking, this would be a matter for you to agree with your current institution. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer assessments.
