Before you make an application

It is important that you have read through our information pages before making an application to one of our Study Abroad programmes. In particular, please read the entry requirements before you complete the form.

Supporting Documents

Before submitting your application, please ensure you have the following supporting documents ready to attach to your application form;

Academic reference If your institution requires that the Academic Reference is kept/submitted confidentially; please have your letter submitted via email to
Official transcript If you are applying to undergraduate Study Abroad please submit a transcript from your current undergraduate degree. Likewise if you are applying to postgraduate Study Abroad, please upload a transcript from your current masters.

Portfolio Only applicable if you are applying for either our Art or Design programme/modules

English language certificate IELTS scores (or another English language certificate) are not required if the student is currently studying at a US institution as s/he has already been evaluated on his/her level of English proficiency by the home institution.

IELTS 6.5 for our undergraduate and postgraduate level/IELTS 5.0 for our year zero level.

To apply for our Study Abroad Programme, please complete our online application form.

Make sure you complete all sections of the form. and upload any supporting documents. We’re not be able to make a final decision on applications that are incomplete. Once you submit your application, you’ll receive an automated email to confirm that your application has been received.

Offers of places

If your application is successful, you’ll be sent an official offer letter by email. Make sure that you read this thoroughly and follow any instructions. Your modules will be provisional at this stage and will be confirmed during your enrolment.

Immigration advice

We have a dedicated Immigration Team to help you with any immigration advice you should need. They offer workshops, drop-in sessions, individual appointments and email advice.  They also host a series of immigration webchats throughout the year, and you can contact them with any enquiries on


Once you’ve received and accepted a formal offer you’ll be eligible to apply to for a room in one of our halls of residence. If you would like to apply, please register and submit an online application form.

How to apply – entry requirements

When considering your application to Study Abroad we take into account your GPA (as evidenced on your official transcript), your academic reference, and the reference from your Study Abroad or International Office confirming that you are in good standing at your home university or college. If you are applying for either our Art or Design modules, you should include a portfolio. Non-native English speakers will also need to demonstrate their English Language Proficiency via IELTS results or similar.

English language requirements

The majority of classes are taught in English. If English is not your first language, you must satisfy us that your English is of a high enough standard. You will need:

 Test General modules (Year 1, 2 or 3) For Introductory/Year Zero modules
 IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in the
written element and no element
lower than 6.0).

In some cases, there are prerequisites for modules, or groups of modules (eg Year 2 Politics modules). These are clearly indicated either underneath the module titles or at the start of each module section. Please make sure that you read and understand all requirements before choosing your modules.

You must meet any prerequisites before you arrive at Goldsmiths, and we make offers of places on the condition that you will meet them. You do not need to have met these requirements before you apply.
