Goldsmiths University of London Centre For Cultural Studies

Britain is the international home of cultural studies and Goldsmiths’ Centre for Cultural Studies (CCS) is the largest in the UK.

Goldsmiths CCS faculty includes authors such as Matthew Fuller (Evil Media, Software Studies), Scott Lash (China Constructing Capitalism, Economies of Signs and Space), and Luciana Parisi (Abstract Sex, Contagious Architecture).

The Centre focuses on practice as much as theory. Here staff include media-artist Graham Harwood, collected by the Tate and Centre Pompidou. The Centre is home to Europe’s largest PhD programme in Cultural Studies. We host events featuring speakers like Chantal Mouffe, David Graeber, Philip Mirowski, Rem Koolhaas, Richard Sennett, Ulrich Beck and Olafur Eliasson. The Centre works integrally with the Media, Sociology, Computing and Art Departments at Goldsmiths.

CCS is host to two research centres: the Digital Culture Unit (co-directed by Matthew Fuller and Luciana Parisi), and the Centre for Philosophy and Critical Thought (CPCT), jointly governed with Sociology, and co-directed by Julia Ng (CCS) and Alberto Toscano (Sociology).
