Ken Garner is programme leader of the BA Multimedia Journalism, Scotland’s only undergraduate journalism masters programme accredited by both the main industry training bodies, the NCTJ and BJTC. His most recent book is The Peel Sessions (Random House/BBC, 2007). He has worked full-time in London and Scotland as a media, arts, business and financial journalist, reporter and editor, and has been freelance since 1986. From 1997-2002 he was radio critic of the Sunday Express.

Garner’s main research interests are in radio, journalism, and broadcast and film music. He has appeared on BBC Radio as a guest on news and discussion programmes about these topics, and is also occasionally invited to compile and write sleeve notes and essays for CD boxed sets of music from the 1960s to the present.

Garner is Reviews Editor of The Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast and Audio Media, launched by Intellect in 2003 with Garner as founding editor, up to 2006; published in association with the Radio Studies Network, of which Garner is also a founder member
