Glasgow Caledonian University Director Of Communications

GCU’s Communications and Public Affairs team manages the University’s internal and external communications, promoting our mission as a University for the Common Good through strategic activity and key messages using a range of traditional, online and social media platforms.

As well as sharing general news about the University, the team highlights the work of the University’s three schools: the Glasgow School for Business and Society, the School of Health and Life Sciences and the School of Engineering and Built Environment; its campuses in London and New York; partner campuses in Bangladesh and Oman; and its growing research activity.

The Communications and Public Affairs team covers the following areas:

Media Relations

The team is the main point of contact for journalists, providing information about the University and the activities of our schools, staff and students.

The team handles all enquiries from print, broadcast and online media. We can offer the media access to GCU academics who can offer expert opinion in their specialist fields.

For academics, we can help you with media tips and training workshops.

Internal Communications

The team helps to keep staff and students up-to-date with news from across the University’s national and international networks. It produces a range of print and electronic publications and a variety of content, including video, for the GCU website.

It is also responsible for key internal messaging to staff and students, working with People Services and other major support departments.

Social Media

The team supports GCU’s strategic messages and news and events with the core Twitter profile @CaledonianNews.

Publications

The team produces a range of publications for internal and external audiences, including: Caledonian Connected, a weekly e-newsletter for staff; The Caledonian magazine for staff and stakeholders; YourGCU, a fortnightly e-newsletter for students; the annual Research Review; and the University’s Annual Review.
