Falmouth University Yorick Benjamin
Yorick Benjamin is Director of Sustainable Design at Falmouth University and an industrial designer specializing in environment and sustainability issues. He is one of the founding members of O2 (Ecological Designers of the 1980’s) with 700 members around the world. He is a founding member of Green Drink Association in London. From 1994-98, he helped build product sustainability development into the Netherlands and, in 2015, he made the design for sustainable bus shelters. He studied Industrial Design at Ravensbourne and Royal College of Art in the late 1980’s. He has delivered over 20 years of research, sustainable design, assessment tools, and database-driven web sites in support of sustainable development. Unpleased with the design work of the early 1990’s, Yorick decided to return to school to become knowledgeable in the area of sustainable design. He earned his PhD in Eco Design and an LCA in Industrial Design from Brunel University, 1994. Always searching to improve upon himself and his field, Yorick is continually setting goals, picking up new skills, and seeking new information. In the upcoming years, he hope to be running a smart design center. The key to success, for Yorick, is to never back away from a challenge and always be open to change.
