Falmouth University Freshers Week 2017

Welcome Week

Meet your mentor evening

(Undergraduates)

At the Meet Your Mentor evening, you will meet your student mentor and other new students from your course. This is held on the night before your induction week begins so it’s a great opportunity to get to know other students on your course and have familiar faces on your first day. You will receive an email inviting you to meet your mentor.

Every new incoming foundation, undergraduate and repeating student will be supported by a student mentor (a second year, where possible from your course) who will contact you before you arrive. They will help you settle in to life at Falmouth and help support you throughout the first year. You can always approach them, to ask any questions, big or small right through your first year.

Freshers

A ‘fresher’ is the affectionate term for a new student. The freshers’ experience kicks off on Monday 12 September and is a fantastic opportunity to meet lots of people, all of whom are in the same situation as you, so just be yourself and get involved! It includes a variety of evening and daytime events, activities and trips.

There is also a Freshers’ Fayre on Sunday 18 September where different sports clubs and societies display what they have to offer and give you the chance to sign up. You can also try out some of their taster sessions during the week. Plus, if you’re keen to get more involved with the local community, their Volunteering Fayre is held alongside the Freshers’ Fayre, so there’s loads to explore. Local businesses and entertainment venues are also in attendance with plenty of freebies – it’s an afternoon not to be missed!

Freshers’ events are supported by FXU (Falmouth and Exeter Students’ Union). They are here to support you during your time at Falmouth University, holding events and activities, offering advice, representing your issues throughout the University and much more.

For more information about who they are and what they do, visit the FXU website. The full foundation and freshers’ programmes will be available there soon and you’ll also receive a letter from the Falmouth President prior to arrival.
