Located on the 6th floor, Block B, within the Sighthill Campus (directions for visitors) we consist of a number of sections each with their own specific responsibilities, and have included a brief outline of each below. Selecting their link will take you to that areas sub-site.

Director of Finance

Andy McGoff

Andy joined the University in October 2016. He is a commercially focused Finance Director with extensive experience of working internationally with entrepreneurial and VC backed organisations as well as large corporates.

Having grown up in the West of Scotland, Andy graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA in Economics, before training to become a Chartered Accountant with Ernst &Young.

Having been with the Miller Group, the UK’s largest privately owned Housebuilding, Property Development and Construction business, for almost 11 years, Andy then worked across a portfolio of clients. This was both as a consultant or a Director accountable for broad commercial business operations as well as functional responsibility for leading, managing and motivating the Finance and HR teams. Most recently he was a Board Member with Bloxx Limited where he had a lead role in the successful sale of the company to Akamai Technologies Inc a NASDAQ listed entity.

Andy lives in Edinburgh with his wife and two daughters.

The Finance and Commercial Director provides leadership to optimise the University’s financial performance and strategic position. They shall contribute fully to the development of the University’s strategy across all areas of the institution, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on budgets, plans, targets and commercial opportunities.

The role holder will be responsible for owning and driving MI, business partnering, financial accounting, effective planning and budgeting, as well as ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place to create best in class reporting and financial governance.

They will ensure that the University operates within its financial limits and achieves an appropriate surplus to allow investment to ensure a sustainable future for the University.
