John is a Lecturer in Nurse Education, he has held both clinical and academic positions throughout the North West. John began his clinical career in the field of acute medical nursing, he also has experience of both acute and community based nursing. John specialised in vascular access and infection prevention and control as a Clinical Nurse Specialist where he was responsible for developing and managing nurse led services within large acute NHS trusts in the North West. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, John was involved in cross speciality working in the clinical fields of Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Oncology, Gastroenterology, Nutrition and Dietetics. More recently, John moved into the clinical speciality of End of Life Care, he continues to regularly practice in this clinical field.

John is currently undertaking an MA in Clinical Education, his educational interests lie in embedding clinical skills and simulation into nurse education programmes, his research interests lie in quality assurance in teaching, learning and assessment. John is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
