Dean Faculty of Health and Social Care

Welcome to the Faculty of Health and Social Care, one of the largest providers of health and social care education in the North West of England. We offer high-quality and responsive programmes for those working in, or seeking to work in, the health and social care sectors.

We offer a wide range of undergraduate courses, from nursing and operating department practice to nutrition,  child health and counselling. Whatever your subject of interest, we aim to support you through all stages of your career from undergraduate study and gaining workplace experience, through to continuing professional development and postgraduate study.

The Faculty has some of the best facilities for health undergraduates in the country. Our learning resources are second to none with leading edge clinical skills facilities including ward simulations with industry standard equipment to give students as realistic a learning experience as possible.

Whilst the Faculty’s main base is at Edge Hill’s Ormskirk campus, we also have bases at Aintree University Hospital, St James’ Manchester, and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The Faculty’s Postgraduate Centre at Aintree Hospital has recently undergone a complete refurbishment to provide a dedicated base for health and social care professionals undertaking professional development study.

2014 will see the launch of the University’s Postgraduate Medical Institute, a partnership between Edge Hill University and regional health professionals and providers seeking to improve the quality of health and social care in the North West through education, research and innovation.

The continued investment in our campuses and facilities, the launching of ever-more innovative programmes and the quest to provide the very best student experience means that Edge Hill is increasing the University of choice for health and social care students, with the Faculty attracting over 6,500 undergraduate applicants in 2013, up nearly one-third on two years ago.

There are plenty of opportunities to come and visit the Faculty – at an open day, evening public lecture or one of the many national and international conferences we host.

Courses

Edge Hill University offers an extensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate health and social care courses depending on the career path you wish to take.

Undergraduate

The Faculty’s nursing, midwifery, paramedic and operating department practitioner courses will equip you with the knowledge and skills to be a competent and efficient health professional. Our degree in social work will provide you with the professional qualification for social workers.

The Faculty also offers undergraduate degree programmes and top-up degrees in a wide range of applied health and social care subjects, including: health and social wellbeing; child health and wellbeing; nutrition; counselling and psychotherapy; and psychosocial analysis of offending behaviour.

Postgraduate and Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

The Faculty’s postgraduate and CPD programmes are for health and social care practitioners who want to study a specific subject at a higher level, or who wish to gain a qualification to help them progress in their career.

Postgraduate Study & Professional Development for Health & Social Care Professionals
