Durham University Nursery

Durham University’s nursery is OFSTED registered (EY257491), and provides a high-standard of childcare working in partnership with other childcare partners in Durham.

Our nursery is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. With convenient access, the nursery is located in central Durham with a number of drop-off car parking spaces provided specifically for our parents and children.

The Nursery operates as a workplace nursery for University staff and students, with childcare vouchers being accepted for non-university parents also. The nursery fees are very competitive and children may be eligible for Early Years Grant Funding in the school term following their third birthday.

Our aims

Here at Durham University Day Nursery we aim to provide high-quality childcare in a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children from three months old to school age.

  • We aim to operate in partnership with parents, helping children to be happy, independent and well adjusted emotionally and socially.
  • We aim to achieve this through kindness and thought provided by caring, patient, professional staff who create a loving and safe environment for childcare.
  • The Nursery also aims to assist all children to attain their maximum development potential by paying attention to their individual needs.
  • We aim to support students and staff of Durham University with parental responsibilities, in order that they can achieve their goals at study or work.
