Night clubs in Durham: for such a small city, Durham has a surprising number of night clubs, not to mention pubs and inns and bars.

From the classic night out at Klute listening to cheesy tunes to the modern surroundings of Loveshack, there’s also plenty of variation throughout the nightclubs of Durham.

Klute Nightclub, in the centre of Durham is infamous among students for the cheesy music, intimate atmosphere (it’s a little sweaty sometimes) and incredibly bad chat-up lines, voted the worst nightclub in Europe (apparently after the actually worst burnt down…)

Both Jimmy Allen’s and Chase are nearby, as is The Swan & Three, Varsity, The Shakespeare and La Tasca.

Klute is incredibly popular as an ending place to bar crawls (especially bailey college bar crawls) and as a venue for university society socials.

Jimmy Allen’s nightclub, situated under Elvet Bridge in Durham, next to Boathouse and Klute, is a popular venue for students on both bar crawls and out pulling randomers, as well as locals. Whilst the drinks are by no means cheap, entry is free, and Jimmy A’s quirky, cavernous rooms under the bridge will mean that the decor is entertaining if the music isn’t.
