Dean of Glasgow Caledonian University Professor Iain Cameron

Professor Iain Cameron is the Dean for the School of Engineering and Built Environment. He is also a Chartered Builder and Chartered Safety Practitioner. Iain joined Glasgow Caledonian University as a lecturer in 1994 and went onto become a senior lecturer. In 2003 he became the Head of Division of Construction Management and Economics and in 2011 he was appointed Vice Dean of the School of Engineering and Built Environment and is currently Dean for the School. Prior to joining GCU he worked for several years in industry within the Clyde Submarine Base at Faslane, responsible for temporary works, project planning, quality and safety. He is past Chairman of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health’s (IOSH) Specialist Interest Group on ‘Safety Sciences’. He is past chair of the West of Scotland branch of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Iain has led many research projects for HSE that have included ‘Prevention of Falls from Heights in Construction’, ‘Integration of the CDM Regulations with other supervisory and managerial practices’ and ‘Worker Participation in Health and Safety’.
