De Montfort University Scholarship

De Montfort University’s Scholarships and Bursaries are non-repayable grants to help students with course-related costs. For 2016/17 entry we have the following awards available for eligible students. DMU Scholarships and Bursaries are automatically awarded and terms and conditions apply.

If you feel you are eligible for either the Care Leavers or Estranged Student Bursary please notify the Transitions Team on transitions@dmu.ac.uk or telephone on (0116) 257 7605 to ensure the award is made.

Access Scholarship

Award: £1,000 cash per year

The Access Scholarship is available if you are accepted onto a course with an Access to Higher Education qualification (where it is an entry requirement for the course). This scholarship is automatically awarded based on confirmation of your qualifications from UCAS.

Article 26 and UNITE Foundation Scholarships

In addition to the scholarships and bursaries detailed above, DMU is working with two charities to provide opportunities to specific groups of students. The scholarships are not awarded automatically and therefore require an application form and supporting documents to be submitted. To discuss either of these scholarships further please contact the Transitions Team on transitions@dmu.ac.uk or telephone on (0116) 257 7595, option3, then option 4.

Article 26 Scholarships

The Article 26 Scholarships are open to DMU applicants from an asylum seeking background who do not have access to student finance. There are four scholarships available to students starting their course in September 2015.

Applications for Article 26 Scholarships are now closed for 2016/17 entry.

Further information can be found on the Article 26 Scholarship webpage.

UNITE Foundation Scholarships

The UNITE Foundation Scholarships are aimed at supporting and promoting access to university for students from Local Authority care; Foyer hostels or other form of supported housing; those who are estranged from their parents or have caring responsibilities for an adult family member. There are five awards on offer for students starting in September 2015. The award includes three years free accommodation in a classic en-suite room at Newarke Point and a cash bursary of £3,000 per year towards living costs.
