De Montfort University Engineering
School of Engineering and Sustainable Development
The School of Engineering and Sustainable Development focuses on exploring cutting-edge advancements, regularly working with organisations at the forefront of research including space agencies and international manufacturing businesses. We encourage a friendly atmosphere in which students can work towards professional qualifications alongside their studies.
All of our full time Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses offer the chance to undertake a year-long placement in industry which will not only enhance your employability but also allow you to put into practice the theory and techniques you have learned through your studies.
The Formula Student challenge – run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers – challenges universities from across the world to design, build and race a single seat racing car in one year. The cars are then judged on their speed, acceleration, handling and endurance, while the teams are tested on their design, costing and business presentation skills. DMU Racing is our university’s entry into the competition, and is proudly entering its fourth year in competing at the event.
