City University London Nursing

Undergraduate

Undergraduate courses at City are focused on preparing students for the challenging and rewarding role of a nurse. Our courses are practically focused, with the development of your clinical skills a key component in the curriculum. As an undergraduate student you will spend approximately 60% of your time on placements in some of London’s leading hospitals and trusts, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Barts Health and the East London Foundation Trust.

To prepare you for your placements, as well as traditional classroom teaching, you will be taught through simulated practice in our state-of-the-art Clinical Skills Centre. Simulated practice is designed to teach you how to treat patients and use clinical equipment within a safe environment. City’s Clinical Skill’s Centre has been designed to mirror a real-world healthcare environment, allowing you to familiarise yourself with equipment and practices before placements and develop your skills and confidence throughout your degree.  Our hands-on approach is key to producing better equipped, highly competent and more able clinicians.

City’s undergraduate nursing courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC); successful graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the NMC when they complete their course, allowing them to practise in the UK, Ireland and some overseas countries.

Postgraduate and workforce development

City offers a wide portfolio of postgraduate and Continuing Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) nursing courses, designed for professionals looking to advance their practice and take the next step in their career. Students can choose from both general advanced practice routes or specialisms in the areas of adult, child, mental health and neonatal nursing. Our courses have been developed with our partner trusts and healthcare providers to ensure they meet the training needs of the healthcare sector.

As a City student you will benefit from outstanding clinical skills facilities, our relationships with London’s leading hospitals and trusts and our location in the centre of the capital.
