City University London Diagnostic Radiography
City is one of the country’s leading providers of radiography education and has one of the UK’s most well equipped training facilities which includes a life-size virtual radiotherapy environment.
As an established provider of healthcare education in London, we offer our students placements within radiography and radiotherapy departments in hospitals including in London The Royal Free Hospital, University College London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital and in Essex, Queen’s Hospital Romford and Southend University Hospital.
We deliver courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree level in the areas of diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy and oncology, computed tomography, medical magnetic resonance and radiography.
We offer two radiography undergraduate degree courses, BSc (Hons) Radiography (Diagnostic Imaging) and BSc (Hons) Radiography (Radiotherapy and Oncology). As a diagnostic imaging student you will learn the skills and knowledge to help diagnose and treat illness by producing and interpreting medical images. The radiotherapy and oncology degree focuses on therapeutic radiography and gives students the skills and knowledge to work on the frontline of cancer treatment.
As a City student you will benefit from teaching from academics who are experts in their field; many are also actively involved in research to inform the future of radiography provision and practice. Our clinical skills facilities are some of the most well equipped in the UK, allowing students to practice their skills before attending placements at some of the capital and south east’s busiest and diverse hospitals. Our undergraduate courses have been ranked 1st in the UK by the 2017 Guardian League Table and are also ranked 1st for student satisfaction by the most recent National Student Survey.
Upon graduation students will be professionally recognised by the College of Radiographers and are able to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council to practise in the UK.
We offer three postgraduate radiography courses MSc Medical Ultrasound, MSc Radiography (Computed Tomography) and MSc Radiography (Medical Magnetic Resonance). The medical ultrasound degree is designed for professionals across the healthcare sector who wish to achieve the academic qualifications and skills to pursue a career in ultrasound. Both the computed tomography and medical magnetic resonance courses are for qualified radiographers who are looking to advance their career and are accredited by the College and Society of Radiographers.
As a postgraduate student at City you will be taught by a specialist programme team, many of whom are still practicing clinically and provide expertise across the sector. Teaching is flexible and offered on a part-time basis, allowing students to continue with their careers whilst they study.
