Cardiff University Xpressradio

Xpress Radio is Cardiff University’s award winning radio station, established in 1994.

Want to interview a huge band such as Kasabian or London Grammar? Or commentate from the Millennium Stadium? These are all things that members of Xpress Radio have done over the last few years.

You can present or produce your own radio show amongst many other things including learning to DJ and help to put on some of Cardiff’s best events.

We hold fortnightly socials and regular training sessions so that every member of Xpress understands the basics of broadcasting.

We broadcast from 7.30am – 12am every day during term time. Our schedule consists of speech, entertainment and specialist shows across a range of genres including politics, comedy and drama .

Xpress is run by students at the university, and funded by the Students’ Union. It operates from a studio on the third floor of the Students’ Union building. The current heads of station are Harry Bligh and James Wilkinson.

Every year, Xpress provides live coverage of the Welsh Varsity sporting events between the Cardiff University and Swansea University, including a full live commentary of the men’s rugby match in the evening.

Ex-members include Vicki Blight (Absolute Radio), Jen Long (BBC Radio One), Sony Award-winner Luke Franks, Roop and Tom and Egg.
