Using the SIMS online system
Having trouble with SIMS? Learn how to overcome the most common problems with the online system.
Unable to access the SIMS website
Please make sure you’re typing the URL (http://sims.cf.ac.uk) into the address bar at the top of your screen and not into a search engine (eg Google).
It’s possible that if you’re trying to visit SIMS from outside your home – for instance, at your workplace – it might be blocked by the organisation. Contact the network administrator for advice.
Unable to login
If you’re a new student, we would have issued you a password at the applicant stage and asked that you change it to something more memorable.
If you’ve forgotten this, you may have completed some security questions which will allow you to reset your password. Otherwise, at the SIMS login screen, you can request to have a new password sent to an email address of your choice.
Getting past the security questions
If you’ve successfully entered in your username and password, but can’t get past the extra security questions, check that you’re entering the correct student number (found at top of enrolment communication).
Please also make sure you’re entering your date of birth in the format dd/mm/yyyy.
Username and password aren’t working
Please check that you are typing your Cardiff University username and password into the correct fields. If an error message appears, please make a note of it in the event you need to contact us for help.
