The Security Centre and Control Room are located on the Park Place side of the Sir Martin Evans Building and is home to the Security Services and Portering team. Aside from operating the Control room, this facility can also create and administer ID cards, and sells highly secure bicycle d-locks to staff and students at a discounted rate. Contact us to find out what bicycle locks are available and how much they are.

The Control Room is maintained in accordance with Home Office Guidelines, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is here that CCTV cameras are monitored, with all images being stored on hard disk recorders. Images taken from these recordings can be used as evidence of crimes committed against University staff, students and property. Please note we are unable to allow viewing of CCTV footage. Any incidents that would require you to make a request will need to be reported to the Police.

Control Room staff maintain a high level of service throughout the day and night, operating the University’s internal emergency telephones outside of office hours as well as monitoring fire and intruder alarms and a city wide two-way radio systems.
