What is a UCAS Convention?

They’re for those thinking about their options post-18 education, there are approximately 50 UCAS exhibitions to attend across the UK every year and they are completely free. It’s a great opportunity when considering the next steps of future options, it’s a chance to ask questions, gather information and get inspired.

Cardiff UCAS Event – For the last 15 years we have hosted the annual Cardiff higher education exhibition, which is held at our Cyncoed Campus in the National Indoor Athletic Centre, the first purpose built athletics track in the UK.

It welcomes over 7,000 prospective students each year from different schools, colleges and individuals who are interested in progressing on to Higher education. Over 120 universities and colleges are represented at this event along with a range of exhibitors including Gap Year organisations, professional bodies, student money advisors and commercial companies.

It’s a great event to visit when considering the next steps of future options.

Our Schools and Colleges Team attend events like this all around the UK. Our staff or ambassadors will represent Cardiff Metropolitan University at most of the UCAS events over the year talking to students, parents or guardians, as well as School or College staff about the courses we offer,  what it’s like to be a student on campus and living in Cardiff, as well as any other questions you might have about Higher Education.

Tips for attending:

Have a chat– about your options before you go with either a tutor, careers advisor, parent or guardian.

Make a shortlist-What courses you would like to study before arriving, as it might seem overwhelming.

Prepare-Make sure you get all the information about the University and courses you’re interested in, think about what is most important to you and try and ask questions on this.
