Health and Social Care is a significant employer  in Wales with around 70,000 people employed. There are a wide range of jobs both in the public and the private sector and the health and social care programmes provide a generic introduction to this are of work, very much vocationally orientated and providing a stepping stone for those students who wish to go on to professional qualifications later.​

About the School

We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of individuals through the delivery of high quality education and research.  Our exciting portfolio of interdisciplinary programmes across Health Sciences and Social Care areas provide our students with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills, gain practical experience and utilise cutting edge equipment and facilities, in preparation for your chosen career.

Our programmes are delivered and supported by over 160 members of academic and support staff, including specialist part-time lecturers from professional clinical areas.

With approximately 2,000 students, we are very proud that 96​% of our graduates secure employment or enter further study within 6 months of graduation*.  Many of our programmes are professionally accredited to meet the requirements of healthcare professions, and a number are unique within Wales, allowing direct entry into your chosen profession and forming an excellent springboard for your career.  We often welcome graduates back to follow further study or research, and maintain close links with those that enter employment.

In addition, we engage closely with industry to provide consultancy services and professional development programmes to suit the needs of the organisation and their staff.  The School has a thriving research culture, with over 60 PhD students across a var​iety fo the School’s disciplines.
