Events Management – BA (Hons) Degree

Course Overview

Professionally accredited by the Institute of Hospitality the BA (Hons) Events Management degree course is designed to ​develop a thorough understanding of the key concepts of events, business and management. It provides a deep understanding of the underpinning theoretical foundations of events management, along with developing highly transferable analytical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as a broad range of practical skills.

Through completing our degree you will become familiar with the techniques, specialisms and issues involved in staging a wide range of events, in addition to receiving a strong management education, transferrable to a range of sectors​.

You will also be exposed to the state-of-the art theories, technologies and research that will shape and transform the industry over the next decade. At a higher level, this programme will prepare you for graduate work by showcasing the impact and importance of events to the UK and global economy; the UK events sector currently contributes £40 billion to the UK economy, with this figure predicted to increase into the future.

The Department for Tourism Hospitality and Events has scored highly in terms of the National Student Survey over recent years and was recently rated 13 in the UK in the Guardian League Table and 17 in the UK in the Good University Guide for 2017.

Course Content​

Foundation Year (Year 0):​

This programme incorporates a foundation year, which is intended for students wishing to enrol onto the three-year honours degree, who fall into one of the following categories:

​​1. Students who have not achieved the required A-level points (or equivalent) score to enter the first year of the degree programme.
2. Mature students who have been out of the formal education system for some time.
