Canterbury Christ Church University Exchange
We encourage our students to spend some time studying abroud in the USA or Canada. This can either be for a single semester or for an entire year. Please contact us if your institution is interested in forming a partnership with us.
Full-year Exchange in the USA or Canada (Level 6 / Year 3)
All full-time American Studies students (Single & Combined Honours) have the option to spend an entire academic year in the USA or Canada. This exchange takes place between Level 5 and Level 6 (between year 2 and year 3) and lasts from August-May. The year abroad is graded on a pass/fail system with students returning to Canterbury to complete a fourth year of study. The year exchange option allows students to take a wide range of courses, and students also have the ability to undertake research and utilise American or Canadian resources for their final year dissertation.
Semester Exchange in the USA or Canada (Level 6 / Year 3)
There is also room in the American Studies programme for Single Honours students to spend a semester (August-December) studying at an American or Canadian university.
This option allows students to spend a period of study n North America whilst having the ability to graduate in three years. Students ndertake their semester abroad during the Autumn term in Year 3 and return to Canterbury in the Spring term to resume and complete their studies. The semester abroad is worth 50% of a student’s final year grade.
