History

  • Brunel College was awarded a Royal Charter in June 1966, allowing it to become Brunel University.
  • After much growth and development, Brunel University became Brunel University London in 2014, formed of 3 academic Colleges and 3 Research Institutes. In 2016 the university celebrated 50 years of innovation in teaching and world-class research.
  • The university’s mission is to combine academic rigour with the practical, entrepreneurial and imaginative approach pioneered by its namesake, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

  • Tom Aggar – the first Paralympic Champion in the arms-and-shoulders-only single skull (ASM1x) in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. He went on to win bronze at Rio 2016.
