British School of Osteopathy Teaching Centre

The British School of Osteopathy is a centre of teaching excellence aiming to provide students with the most suitable education for osteopathic practice.

Our approach to teaching is based on the following foundations:

The importance of scientific knowledge

Osteopathy requires knowledge of the structure and function of the human body as a whole.

Our courses have been designed to provide a comprehensive academic foundation for clinical practice, including in-depth teaching of anatomy, physiology and related environmental factors. By the end of the M.Ost, you will not only have a comprehensive understanding of the human body but also have developed the critical thinking skills that allow our students to become adaptive and competent practitioners.

Clinical focus

Our aim is to develop students into expert osteopathic practitioners and as such, we focus on clinical excellence.

We provide our students with unrivalled opportunities for clinical practice with a significant portion of teaching time devoted to technique classes and working with patients in our main clinic and specialist community clinics.

Throughout your time at the BSO, you will be taught by tutor-practitioners who combine teaching experience with up-to-date clinical knowledge gained from being active in practice.

Leading research

As part of the M.Ost, you will have the opportunity to pursue a research project of your choice and will be guided by one of our research team. We have an active research centre, harnessing expertise which can offer you a unique perspective on practice areas.

Student-centred learning

We recognise that our student body is made up of individuals with different educational needs and learning styles. Our tutors are trained to recognise these needs and offer suitable support, enabling you to achieve their academic and clinical potential.

As a student at the BSO, you will have access to non-curriculum support such as essay improvement workshops, dyslexia tuition and specialist study groups.

Small class sizes

Technique classes and tutorials are a critical part of osteopathic education and the British School of Osteopathy ensures that small tutor to student ratios are enforced, allowing each student to receive individual instruction and feedback on academic work.
