  Bournemouth University Choir

With a choice of three choirs, singing is one of the music department’s most popular activities.

The University’s Choral Society is open to students, staff and members of the local community. We rehearse and perform major works from the choral repertoire with professional orchestras and soloists of international repute. Our programme for the 2016/2017 season includes Handel’s ‘Messiah’, Puccini’s ‘Messa di gloria’, Elgar’s ‘The Music Makers’ and Bach’s ‘Magnificat’. Additionally the choir offers several singing days with guest conductors.

Rehearsals: Thursday 7.00pm-9.00pm in the Student Hall, Talbot House

Annual subscription: BU/AUB/AECC students: free, staff: £40, external: £75 to include all music hire.

Chamber Choir offers singers with some experience and sight reading ability to rehearse and perform more challenging choral repertoire from the sixteenth century to the present day. We regularly sing in Winchester Cathedral, Christchurch Priory and St. Peter’s Church in Bournemouth and each year we perform an opera in Poole’s historic Guildhall. We do not hold formal auditions but new members are asked to attend an initial rehearsal to ensure an effective balance of voices is maintained within the group. The ensemble is only open to students.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 5.00pm-6.30pm in the Student Hall, Talbot House

Subscription for the year: Free to all BU/AUB/AECC students
