This course gives you the opportunity to review and take part in creative projects, focussed case studies, and applied research. You will consider heritage education and learning in its various forms and in a wide range of local, national and international contexts. Your studies will encourage you to work on various sites and alongside specialists.

The course is delivered flexibly through campus-based and online teaching and learning. It is designed for those already employed in the sector as well as those seeking to enter it. Studies are supported by a dedicated team of specialist tutors, and a well-developed and resourced virtual learning environment. Students benefit from other facilities and resources, such as the involvement of the University in managing the highly regarded Sandford Award for Heritage Education.

You will be studying at the cutting edge of heritage education, gaining valuable practical experience and via a range of case- or site-based studies. The programme offers awards of Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or the full MA Degree in Heritage Education.

By the end of the course, you will be fully equipped to progress onto a variety of careers in the field of heritage education, or further study, with a repertoire of skills and knowledge behind you.

What you will study

In your first year you will study Contemporary issues in Heritage Education, Heritage Learning, The Visitor Experience and Research Skills. Those studying part-time will also take the Contemporary Issues module, followed by either Heritage Education or The Visitor Experience.
