Bishop Grosseteste University Graduation 2016
Graduation is the highlight of the academic year here at BGU. We always try to make it as special as possible for both our graduating students and their family and friends who are in attendance as guests.
In recent years our graduation celebrations have grown and now encompass four separate ceremonies, spanning two days. For 2017 the event will take place over Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 July.
BGU Graduates are particularly fortunate in that their graduation ceremonies take place in the breathtaking surroundings of Lincoln Cathedral. Graduating from the Cathedral really adds to the sense of occasion and it’s the perfect location to take photos and videos by which to remember the day.
After the ceremony Graduates and Guests are led back to the campus. There’s Prosecco, strawberries, balloons and music as the celebrations continue, helping to mark the momentous occasion in a special and memorable way.
To be eligible to attend you must:
- Register before the deadline – Friday 12 May, even if you think you might not pass the course
- Pass your degree/award
- Have your award conferred by Bishop Grosseteste University Board of Examiners by 30 June 2017
- Have paid all outstanding tuition fees
If you have re-sits you will not be eligible to attend the graduation ceremonies this year as your results will not be released in time for you to attend, but, subject to passing an award, you will be invited to graduate in July 2018.
If you have an extension or approved extenuating circumstances and your award has not yet been conferred by Bishop Grosseteste University Board of Examiners on or before the 30 June, you will not be eligible to attend until Graduation 2017.
If you miss the graduation deadline of Friday 12 May, you will not be able to attend graduation.
Payment of Fees
If you have any outstanding academic debts due to the University, these must be settled by the end of the course or your degree will not be awarded. You will be reminded of any outstanding debts and must ensure these are cleared by no later than Wednesday 31 May. If you fail to pay any sum due, your name may be removed from the Graduation Programme.
We are initially offering 3 Ceremony guest tickets with an option to apply for extra tickets after the registration deadline.
Availability of additional tickets over and above the 3 guest tickets detailed above cannot be guaranteed or confirmed until all the applications have been processed. We will email the student account on Tuesday 23 May with details of availability and how to apply using a link to the online extra ticket ordering website. The website will not go live until Friday 26 May. Subject to availability this system will issue available extra tickets on a first come first served basis.
(In the very unlikely event of 100% take up on the initial registration, the third ticket purchased will be refunded and the surplus tickets to be offered on a first come first served basis.)
Invitations will be sent out to students the week beginning 27 March.
You are required to wear full academic dress for the ceremony (gown, hood and mortar board). This must be provided by and ordered in advance from Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd the University’s official gown hire company and authorised photographers. It is policy that only full outfits can be hired and price cannot be broken down.
