birmingham city university qualifications
Once you’ve found the course you’d like to apply for, it’s important that you make sure you have, or are aiming to achieve, the entry requirements for that course, which can include both academic and non-academic elements.
What is the purpose of having entry requirements?
We want you to succeed with your studies, so you need to be able to demonstrate that you’re capable of coping with the rigours of studying at the level you’re applying for. Some subjects may require a certain level of knowledge of that subject or related ones, or you may need appropriate experience in a particular discipline or area.
How do I find out the entry requirements for my course?
Entry requirements can be found in the individual course listings in our courses section. Look under the ‘Entry Requirements’ tab for your course.
If your qualifications were studied overseas, you will need to check the general entry requirements for applicants from your country.
Competence in English language
Our courses are taught and assessed entirely in English. Therefore, if your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate appropriate proficiency. If you need to improve your English before beginning your studies, you may be able to take one of our pre-sessional English courses
Before you begin your programme, you must enrol as a student at Birmingham City University.
You will be required to complete an online enrolment task prior to arriving at the University. Details of how to complete this task will be sent to you at least one month prior to your programme start provided you have confirmed your acceptance of an unconditional offer.
If you have any difficulties completing the online enrolment task you can request help by clicking the help icon located at the top of each of the enrolment task screens.
As part of this process, you will need to:
- Check your personal data is correct
- Detail your prior qualifications
- Confirm your current highest qualification
- Check and correct the equal opportunity information
- Confirm your programme and attendance details
- Confirm tuition fee liability
- Sign up to the University’s student declarations
The Legal Bits
When you enrol at Birmingham City University – either for the first time or as a returning student – you enter into a formal agreement with the University, with rules, regulations and disciplinary procedures on both sides
For the majority of students, you will be able to complete your enrolment online. However, depending on the programme you are enrolling for, you may be required to book and attend an appointment in order to complete your enrolment. You will be required to bring a number of documents with you to this appointment. Further details will be confirmed during the online enrolment process.
Please note that it is a requirement for all international students to book and attend an appointment in order to complete enrolment.
