With around 23,500 students from 80 countries, Birmingham City University is a large, diverse and increasingly popular place to study. We put students at the heart of everything we do, giving them the best opportunities for future success. The University has an enviable reputation for providing quality, student-focused education in a professional and friendly environment.
Our superb courses, state-of-the-art facilities, first-rate staff, and focus on practical skills and professional relevance is producing some of the country’s most employable graduates. Our staff and student community is defined by our core values, which outline who we are as a University and how we will work with each other. Our core values are Excellence, People focused, Partnership working and Fairness and integrity.
This is pivotal time to join the University as we continue with our aspirational estate development plan. We are particularly excited about the Typhoo Wharf and the ‘Knowledge Hub’ masterplan, which lays out a vision for new public spaces and a thriving area for start-up and growing businesses as part of the renaissance of Birmingham’s Eastside, an idea germinated here at BCU.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Estates & Facilities will be responsible for the delivery of a customer centred estates service underpinning the University’s strategic and operational priorities. You will take full responsibility for leading our newly combined directorate of estates and campus management (130 staff) in conjunction with leading our ambitious capital development programme (£260m). This is an exciting time in our history with the new Director taking a prominent role within Birmingham’s Eastside Regeneration scheme.
