Private student accommodation providers
Private student accommodation providers at UNITE and CRM Student Accommodation would really benefit students on 10 week – 3 month summer placements. This would be subject to availability of buildings as this varies dependant on location, so please contact Unite and CRM buildings directly through their webpages.
Vita Student accommodation has 44-51 week contracts available to students that would suite sandwich year students who are doing a 10-12 month placement. Vita Student also offer short term lettings that would be beneficial for students again on on 10 week – 3 month placements. You can view the accommodation from the comfort of your own seat via Skype which will be helpful if you have busy work schedules. The rooms that would be offered if available would be studios,however dual occupancy are available. You would need to provide a student status letter to qualify for a tenancy, this can be collected at the Student Information Desk in Commons. The accommodation information on Vita Student Accommodation represents accommodation that Bath Spa Accommodation has not had first hand experience of.
Accommodation supplied by placement company
This is most likely to occur with hospitality placements in which the cost or percentile of cost will be covered by the company. Please be aware that this arrangement is not common but may be worth asking placement providers.
Private Sector contracts are a minimum of 6 months so would be suitable for students on 10-12 month placements. Websites like rightmove and zoopla that list homes available for rent in the UK. Similar website exist in other countries and you can also contact local Housing Agencies to find a suitable house or flat. Rent will vary depending on location, quality and size so researching the market is essential. Please ensure that you know what deposit protection scheme your deposit will be entered into and you receive written confirmation within 30 days of payment. We strongly advise that your view your accommodation before entering into a contract.
- Before signing any contract please ensure that you read your housing contract thoroughly and ensure you understand all clauses.
- Don’t hand over any money without getting a receipt, ensure you know what the money is for and whether it is refundable.
- Take your time selecting your house/ living solution.
- Take your time selecting your housemates.
- If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
